What it Takes to Perform a Complete Bed Bug Treatment

What it Takes to Perform a Complete Bed Bug Treatment

Bed bugs are a pest problem no one wants to ever face: the middle-of-the-night bites, the invasion of your bed and furniture, and the hassle and cost associated with getting rid of them...it’s the stuff of nightmares! Luckily, our professionals at Thompson Brothers are trained to get rid of bed bugs once and for all if you find yourself in the position of needing remediation. The process of a complete bed bug treatment can be extensive, so we’ve broken down the basic steps for you below.

Assessment

Just like with any infestation situation, every home or business with a bed bug problem is different. Thompson Brothers will perform an on-site inspection to assess what the challenges, concerns, and specific issues are, and we’ll create a plan of action that best fits each customer’s needs.

Strategy

Oftentimes, there are several treatment options available, and we will make sure each treatment is clearly explained. Sometimes, a combination of two treatments can be used, depending on the severity of the infestation and the timeline of the customer. In most cases, a homeowner's belongings must be packed up and stored for a period of time, and all clothing in the home should be washed and dried.

Implementation

Once a treatment plan is in place, our team will begin implementing the bed bug remediation measures. The two most common treatments are:

  • Conventional insecticide treatments: these are used on smaller or more isolated infestation cases, and require multiple visits. These chemicals will create no threat for the occupants of the space, and there will also be a residual barrier created to prevent future infestations.
  • Heat treatments: these are ideal for more widespread infestations, or when a customer needs more immediate eradication of the bed bugs. With this option, heaters are placed strategically around the home, and the temperature is raised up to 120 degrees in order to kill all bed bugs on site. Precautions are taken so that nothing in the home is damaged during the implementation of this particular strategy.

Cost

There’s no way around the inevitable cost of a complete bed bug treatment, but costs will vary from case to case. Thompson Brothers will be sure to give each customer competitive, up-front pricing so that there will be no confusion or surprises when it comes to the final estimate for project completion.

What Our Customers Say

Sharon P, Waterproofing & Repair

We had extensive water intrusion that our inspector did not see. Thompson Brothers had to engage in grading, extensive digging, reinstallation of French drains, and install a new drainage field. The work was excellent. All personnel is polite, on time, and very professional. Highly recommend.
