Why Rodent Infestations Should be Taken Seriously

Rodents can cause a lot of damage to a business or home, not to mention the health risks they pose. Even if you don’t get into direct contact with a rodent, they can indirectly spread disease via their feces or saliva. Moreover, they could be potentially harmful to your pets. Don't let a rodent infestation hold you back from a successful start to the new year and let us take care of it!

How do Rodents Get Into My House?

Rodent infestations can happen in many places, including your home. Although there are many ways for rodents to enter your home, here is a short list of places to check to reduce the odds of that happening.

Check your walls: Walk around your house and inspect the exterior walls for cracks or holes. Even small openings can create big problems as pests and rodents can see it as an entrance to their new home. Try to fill in holes and cracks where possible and block any potential entrances. This will not only keep unwanted guests out, but will also help with overall insulation. Win-win!

*Make sure that all windows and doors are sealed properly to keep them out for good!

Review your insulation: If possible, get into your basement or crawl space to check your insulation. Insulation is meant to keep your house warm, making it a great nesting spot for rodents. If you spot any insulation material out of place, this could be a sign of unwanted guests and it may be time to call in the experts.

*Don’t forget to check other exterior buildings, such as garages and sheds, should you have them.

Double check anything you bring inside: In the cool nights, what’s a better place to hide than a trash can or tarp someone left outside? Rodents may think it’s a perfect place to spend the night. Not only can this cause an outdoor rodent infestation around your house, it can also bring the problem inside if you unknowingly take it in.

Prevention is key: To prevent rodents from entering your home, check outside frequently for signs of rodent activity like droppings or nests. If you spot any signs of activity, reach out to Thompson Brothers Exterminating and Waterproofing to exterminate or relocate them for you.

What Our Customers Say

Sharon P, Waterproofing & Repair

We had extensive water intrusion that our inspector did not see. Thompson Brothers had to engage in grading, extensive digging, reinstallation of French drains, and install a new drainage field. The work was excellent. All personnel is polite, on time, and very professional. Highly recommend.
