There’s no nice way to say it: termites are a big, big problem. These hungry bugs cause American homeowners and businesses several billion dollars’ worth of damages each year. And they don’t just do damage in warm months—termites are a problem all year.
Many people have the misconception that termites are not active year round—but they are. And in spring, termites swarm, meaning they search for new places to build homes and start colonies (learn more about termite swarming here). That means that March is the best time to contact a pest control company in North Carolina or South Carolina about termites. Address the problem in spring before it becomes a major problem.
Spring means damp weather, extra mulch and wet soil – all of which attract termites to your home. You can start the spring pest control process by removing soil from piling up around the foundation of our home. Also take the time to visually inspect your house for any indication that you might be developing a problem. Mud tubes along the foundation or the rafters can be an indication of a termite problem. Also look for a significant number of dead insects inside the house near lights or on the windowsills.
If you see any of these indicators, it’s time to call a professional exterminator, because there are no good termite pesticides available over-the-counter. Only a professional exterminator can handle the right chemicals to kill the termites once they have made it into your home.

We had extensive water intrusion that our inspector did not see. Thompson Brothers had to engage in grading, extensive digging, reinstallation of French drains, and install a new drainage field. The work was excellent. All personnel is polite, on time, and very professional. Highly recommend.
