Protect Your Home: Waterproof Your Basement

The time to prevent basements from flooding is long before the storms start. Thompson Brothers offers waterproofing services for basements in new construction and established residential homes. Waterproofing your basement ensures that standing water and high moisture—caused by rains or floods—do not cause structural damage, mold or other water issues.

Remember: Flood damage often is not covered by standard insurance, so waterproofing your basement now may protect you from extensive damage and costs later on.

Basement waterproofing

Thompson Brothers offers exterior basement waterproofing (along outside walls) and interior basement waterproofing (along inside walls). We can waterproof basements based on construction type and needs to either prepare new construction, fix leaky basements or seal basement walls against future leaks or flooding.

Waterproofing new construction

To waterproof new construction, we use Rub-R-Wall, a waterproofing system that is asphalt-free, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. Rub-R-Wall has been recommended worldwide by architects and builders. It is effective for use on block and poured concrete walls, and comes with a lifetime warranty.

How do you waterproof a basement?

Thompson Brothers uses a 6-Step Interior Basement Waterproofing System in all residential basements. The process involves:

Step 1: Concrete breakout. We carefully break up and remove the layer of concrete between the ground and the outside retaining wall.

Step 2: Hand dig. Our technicians dig by hand an extensive trench below the retaining wall to house the pipes.

Step 3: Install corrugated pipe. Our pipes are built to withstand all kinds of weather and ensure that water is routed safely through your home and into a sump basin.

Step 4: Lay gravel. Our experts fill the pipeline and trench with gravel, which allows water to move through the trench as needed without destroying your foundation.

Step 5: Pour concrete. We carefully restore concrete to your basement floors, fully and attractively covering the waterproofing pipes and gravel.

Step 6: Install sump pump. A sump pump routes water that has collected in the sump basin safely out of your home and into a municipal storm drain. It works actively to remove water from your home and to keep it from accumulating.

Our Interior Basement Waterproofing System comes with a lifetime warranty. Your basement will be forever protected from flooding and water damage, or we’ll make it right—immediately and at no additional cost to you.

Sharon P, Waterproofing & Repair

We had extensive water intrusion that our inspector did not see. Thompson Brothers had to engage in grading, extensive digging, reinstallation of French drains, and install a new drainage field. The work was excellent. All personnel is polite, on time, and very professional. Highly recommend.
